QĐND - Tuesday, September 11, 2012, 21:9 (GMT+7)

PANO – As of September 10th, flooding left 9 dead, 2 missing and 12 injured, destroyed 135 houses and submerged more than 6,000 others in Thanh Hoa Province, while over 18,000ha of crops, and many roads were also inundated.

After the water receded, over 400 troops from the Thanh Hoa Command and local militiamen and youths came to Thuong Xuan District to help local people return to their normal life.

In Tho Xuan and Quan Son Districts, joint forces actively protected local people’s lives and properties and dealt immediately with the consequences of the natural disaster.

According to Lo Dinh Mui, Chairman of Quan Son People’s Committee, the district gave VND 1-2 million to each family whose house was destroyed by flooding.

On September 10th, a working delegation, led by Vu The Chien, Deputy Head of the National Search and Rescue Committee, also went to La Phan Tau Commune, Mu Cang Chai District, Yen Bai Province, where a landslide at a zinc mine killed at least 17 people, to give relief instructions and also promptly commend and reward outstanding rescuers.

The same day, the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to give VND 450 million to flood victims in north central provinces and to victims of the landslide in La Pan Tan Commune.
