PANO - A Defence Ministry delegation, led by Lieutenant-General Nguyen Trung Thu, Deputy-Chief-of-the-General-Staff, inspected the implementation of local national defence and military tasks in 2012 in Khanh Hoa Province on August 15th.
The delegation was briefed on results of the Khanh Hoa’s national defence and military mission implementation in 2011 and in the first six months of 2012 by a representative of the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee.
Khanh Hoa is a core and strategic area in the South Central Coast of Vietnam and also one of the dynamic provinces, with annual economic growth of 11 per cent. Over the past years, the locality’s economic structure shift has benefited local people by focusing on tourism, processing industry and aqua-products.
In recent years, Khanh Hoa actively built up strong armed forces with high combat readiness, making contributions to maintaining national defence and security as well as social order and speeding up economic growth. In 2011 and the first half of this year, the province provided many national defence and security training courses for over 4,000 people, including 56 local religious dignitaries. Besides, local relevant units also focused on strengthening its militiamen and reservists.
Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant-General Nguyen Trung Thu highly valued the Khanh Hoa’s national defence and military successes over the past time and affirmed that the province should continue to maintain the whole-people defence, be ready to deal with unexpected issues in any circumstances and proactively participate in social activities to contribute to the provincial socio-economic development.
The same day, the working delegation also visited the Khanh Hoa Military Command and the Khanh Hoa Border Guard Command.
