PANO - A Defence Ministry delegation, led by Senior Lieutenant-General Le Huu Duc, Deputy Defence Minister, visited the Can Tho city Command and Brigade 226 under Military Zone 9 on August 7th.

At Brigade 226, General Duc and the delegation visited troops from Battalion 145, the Brigade’s Clinic and Headquarters. According to a report of the Brigade, since the beginning of the year, the unit has provided training courses for relevant trainees and 100 per cent of them met expected requirements. In addition, the unit also strictly carried out political and ideological education and maintained food safety and hygiene.

In Can Tho, Major-General Vu Cao Quan, Head of the City Command, gave the delegation a briefing on its achievements over the past time. The Command recommended local authorities for combining economic development with national defence missions. In the first half of 2012, the unit opened national defence and security training courses for over 84,000 students and people in the locality.

Speaking at the two working sessions, General Duc hailed the units’ successes over the past years and affirmed that the units should continuously worked jointly with local leaders to hold firm strong whole people national defence and maintain social order.
