PANO - 54 former front-line reporters received “Soldier Protecting Quang Tri Ancient Citadel” insignas on June 19th in Hanoi.
A reception ceremony was held by the Front-line Reporters’ Liason Committee in the attendance of Lieutenant-General Pham Hong Cu, former Deputy Head of the General Department of Politics, Vietnam People’s Army.
Addressing the event, General Cu appreciated great contributions and devotions of front-line reporters of different generations for the cause of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, in general and in 81 days and nights defending Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, in particular and recommended that soldiers-reporters must keep writing so long as they are healthy enough.
Despite of difficulties and danger, war reporters, at that time, demonstrated their resilience and bravery to timely cover hard and fierce combats of Vietnamese troops and people in defending Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.
Those coverages had timely encouraged troops and civilians there to continue their fervent combat to win final victory for the nation.
General Cu hoped that former front-line reporters would keep writing high quality articles, worthy of the tradition of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.
