Vietnamese in Japan gradually stabilize lives after earthquake
QĐND - Monday, March 12, 2012, 20:30 (GMT+7)

The situation of the Vietnamese community has been basically stable since the devastated earthquake hit the country one year ago, said Vietnamese Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung on March 11.

Not many Vietnamese people were affected by the disaster and none was reported death. Those working in the danger areas have been evacuated to new places by the Japanese government, he said.

Over the past year, the Vietnamese community has joined hands with the Japanese government and people to overcome the aftermath of the catastrophe. In the meantime, the Vietnamese people back home have raised funds for the Japanese victims, Hung added.

There are about 40,000 Vietnamese living and working in Japan, 45 percent of them studying or attending refresher courses.
