A seminar on HIV/AIDS prevention education for youths was held on September 19-20 in
Hanoi by the Health Care Ministry in coordination with BBC World Service Trust.
The seminar is part of a project sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, run by the ministry and carried out in central agencies and 15 provinces from 2007-10. The project aims to deploy a massive youth education campaign against HIV/AIDS with the aid of mass media.
Deputy Health Care Minister, Doctor Nguyen Ba Thuy stressed that the overall strategy was to resort to mass media to effectively transmit messages on HIV/AIDS prevention to the target populations. The message sent to youths should be clear-cut, exact, understandable, attractive and friendly to them.
This will provide youngsters and those around them with essential knowledge of HIV/AIDS, proper attitudes and acts in life, as well as help them avoid becoming infected by HIV/AIDS and access necessary services.
During the 2 days of discussion, participants talked about a series of ideas, media products and messages on HIV/AIDS prevention which will be used in the years ahead.
