The information was released at a meeting held in Ha Noi on September 19 to review the campaign and honour the volunteers' accomplishments.

During the three-month programme, which kicked off in June, the youngsters travelled to remote and mountainous areas or joined local communities in addressing urgent issues like protecting environment, preventing social evils and disseminating the Party and State policies.

They also pitched in with humanitarian activities in support of social welfare beneficiaries and the needy, as well as in techniques transfer, and information technology training for farmers and young people in disadvantaged areas.

Volunteer teams were also sent to help their peers in a number of provinces of Laos and Cambodia.

Later the same day, an exchange programme, entitled "young volunteer itinerary" was held for in Ha Noi, drawing hundreds of students and youth nationwide.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung praised the young volunteer and expressed his hope that the volunteer campaign will be extended further.
